GK4 Karting Series Round 2

A Tough Learning Weekend for Bera Akbaba

The second round of the GK4 Karting Series took place at Karting Genk. For young talent Musab Bera Akbaba, it turned into one of the most challenging weekends of the season so far — a weekend full of setbacks, but also full of valuable lessons.

Warm-up & Qualifying – Struggling in Warmer Conditions

Bera started the weekend with difficulties during the warm-up and qualifying sessions. The warmer weather made it hard to find the right balance, and he struggled with pace compared to his usual form. Despite pushing hard, he couldn’t reach his expected lap times, leaving him with a tough starting position for the heats.

Heat 1 – A Clean Run

In the opening heat, Bera managed to complete the full distance. Although he was still struggling with overall pace compared to the leaders, he drove consistently and kept the kart on track, gathering important experience and data.

Heat 2 – Electrical Problems

Heading into Heat 2, things unfortunately went wrong. After changing all the electrical cables to improve reliability, a battery cable was loose. Just after the start, the engine cut out and his race was over almost immediately. A frustrating way to end the session, but the team quickly identified and fixed the problem.

The Final – Unlucky Collision

The final race brought even more misfortune. At the very first corner, another driver spun just ahead of Bera. With nowhere to go, he was caught up in the incident, damaging the steering arm of his kart. The damage made the kart undriveable, forcing him to retire early from what should have been the highlight race of the weekend.

Looking Ahead

While the results didn’t reflect his effort, Bera showed perseverance and maturity throughout a weekend filled with setbacks. Karting often teaches its toughest lessons through difficult race days, and these challenges will only make him stronger moving forward.

Despite all the unlucky moments at Genk, Bera still holds 2nd place in the championship standings — proof of his consistency and strong performances in the opening round. With the technical issues solved and valuable lessons learned, determined to bounce back and fight for stronger results.
